About Act Tight

Act Tight is a free, independent guide to performing short sets well. It covers the practical side of stagecraft that applies whether you do stand-up, play in a band, or give short talks: cutting material, rehearsing, transitions, and ending on time.

What you will find here

• Craft guides that each answer one practical question, with the short answer first.
• A set-time calculator that totals your set with transitions and an audience buffer.
• A FAQ of quick answers.

Who is behind it

Act Tight is an independent concept site published by Tarmic Digital. It is not a comedy club, booking agency, coaching business, or school, and it does not offer lessons, bookings, or paid services.

How the guides are written

The guides were researched and drafted with AI assistance and edited for clarity. They draw on common stage practice and, where a claim depends on research, link to the source. They have not been reviewed by a professional performance coach. Treat them as a starting point and trust what your own recordings tell you.

Each guide shows when it was published and updated. If something is wrong or out of date, the guidance should be corrected, not hidden.
